The fun, the fashion, the friendship: “Sex and the City 2” brings it all back and more as Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) take another bite out of The Big Apple--and beyond--carrying on with their busy lives and loves. What happens after you say "I do"? Life is everything the ladies ever wished it to be, but it wouldn't be "Sex and the City" if life didn't hold a few more surprises--this time in the form of a glamorous, sun-drenched adventure that whisks the women away from New York to one of the most luxurious, exotic and vivid places on earth, where the party never ends and there's something mysterious around every corner. It's an escape that comes exactly at the right moment for the four friends, who are finding themselves in--and fighting against--the traditional roles of marriage, motherhood and more. After all, sometimes you just have to get away with the girls.

Blah, blah, blah… “Sex in the City 2” was super long and it wasn’t even all that. There is no denying that this show was a great series when it was on HBO, and the first movie was a hit because we were all feenin’ for more but that ship has sailed. The opening scene was really really gay, but it was a lavish wedding for two guys and quite lovely. What would a gay wedding be without Ms. Liza Minnelli… who for the record is simply too old to be singing Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”. I was afraid the old lady was going to break her hip “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. As for the girls…not much has changed for these ladies during our break. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is still coming to terms with married life and trying to define her relationship. Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is 52 years old and age has not slowed her appetite for sex despite being menopausal. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is still an uptight lawyer who needs to learn how to relax, and Charlotte (Kristen Davis) is finally a mother of two and struggling with those responsibilities. While fashion is a very big part of “Sex in the City” their attire left a lot to be desired and was either hit or miss even to the untrained eye. This was also the first time these New Yorkers explored the rich culture of the new Middle East known as Abu Dhabi, but this country really pisses me off with the way women are treated and belittled. Samantha of all people was certainly in the wrong place, but she gave those unruly men something to be mad at for a very long time. So for that I hold my cocktail glass up high and toast “I Am Woman”. Overall “Sex in the City 2” was just OK. If you’re a follower of this movement then it only makes sense to go out and watch it, but just don’t go expecting too much and you’ll be fine. ~Dana Da Designated Hata® aka Nobody’s Fan®
