OUR FAMILY WEDDING "Our marriage, their wedding." It's lesson number one for any newly engaged couple, and Lucia (America Ferrera) and Marcus (Lance Gross) are no exception. In Our Family Wedding, they learn the hard way that the path to saying "I do" can be rife with familial strife. When they return from college and too suddenly announce their marriage plans, they soon discover that their fathers - two highly competitive over-the-top egos - can wreak a major amount of havoc on their special day. With insults flying and tempers running high, it's anyone's guess if the alpha dads will survive to make it down the aisle in one piece. Lucia's mother is busy planning the wedding of "her" dreams and the only levelheaded one in the bunch is Angela (Regina King), the groom's father's best friend and lawyer, who manages to keep her cool when the madness reaches a crescendo. With only weeks to plan their wedding, Lucia and Marcus soon discover the true meaning of love and find there is truth to the saying - that when you marry someone, you marry their entire family. Written by Fox Searchlight Films  REVIEW  There is nothing new about “Our Family Weddingâ€. Quite frankly it reminds me of hybrid of “Fools Rush In†with Salma Hyek and Matthew Perry and “Guess Who†with Ashton Kutcher and Zoe Saldana. The only thing that makes “Our Family Wedding†different is that this time around the stories about a Mexican and African American family. I was lightly impressed at this movies attempt to make me laugh because of cultural differences. However, this is so over done that it just becomes expected and boring. What should have been considered as drop dead funny to audiences only made me yawn. Not to mention that there was basically no on screen chemistry whatsoever between Lucia (America Ferrera) and Marcus (Lance Gross). COME ON MAN… these two might as well have been roommates that called each other Baby. There was absolutely nothing special about “Our Family Weddingâ€. Although this is a total chick flick that “will never make my listâ€â€¦ it’s certainly not worth seeing in the theater. I walked away feeling as through the Director, Writers, and Producers of this film owed me a few bucks on my matinee ticket! Waste your money on it if you want to but it’s more of a womp womp rental or a decent cable watch. ~Dana Da Designated Hata® aka Nobody’s Fan®
