Mel Gibson, Ray Winstone, Danny Huston, Bojana Novakovic, Shawn Roberts
Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson) is a veteran homicide detective for the Boston Police Department and a single father. When his only child, 24-year-old Emma Craven (Bojana Novakovic), is murdered on the steps of his home, everyone assumed that he was the target. But Thomas soon suspects otherwise, and embarks on a mission to find out about his daughter’s secret life and her killing. His investigation leads him into a dangerous looking-glass world of corporate cover-ups, government collusion and murder. Even his dear old friend, Darius Jedburgh (Ray Winstone), turns out to be a shadowy government operative who has been sent in to clean up the evidence. Craven’s solitary search for answers about his daughter’s death transforms into an odyssey of emotional discovery and redemption. REVIEW Mel Gibson has been absent from the silver screen for over seven years, but he certainly returns in a big way! He plays a father who’s desperately seeking answers after his daughter is murdered right in front of him. While I’m sure that this type of situation would probably push just about any parent to “The Edge of Darknessâ€, this movie took way to long to get to the bottom of things. Sure it had “a little†bit of action and the overwhelming desire to seek vengeance, but I wanted for so much more out of this film. “The Edge of Darkness†could have just as easily been released as an HBO or Showtime original and folks would have been fine with that. Trust me, this movie will be out on Blu-Ray/DVD in less than 17 weeks to make up for lack of ticket sales. Just wait to rent it or watch it on cable. ~Dana Da Designated Hata aka Nobody’s Fanâ„¢
