Everyone wants their time in the spotlight and “Fame†follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists for all four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts. Each of these students are highly talented, and this coming of age film chronicles their journey of hard work and dedication in a highly competitive environment. For a moment of “Fame†they’ll put to their artistic goals to the test, balance a full load of schoolwork, friendships, budding romance, and self-discovery. Together they’ll find out who amongst them has what it takes for their shot at fame.          This movie was a reinvention of the original 1980 hit film, “Fameâ€. I was expecting to see singing and dancing all over the place, but all I got was pure disappointment. I was under the impression that I was going to be blown away in all areas of the arts…NOT. This movie totally sucked!! I have to admit that I’ve seen more dancing in “You Got Served, Step Up, Dirty Dancing, or Stomp the Yard†and singing on “American Idol†or a Disney cartoon. This remake classic was a total fail!! The best part of this entire movie was the trailer, the final dance recital, and the theme song. If you’re looking for entertainment, stick with television….you’ll get so much more from “So You Think You Can Dance†or “Dancing With The Stars†. This movie was pumped up to be so more than it actually was. However, I would suggest waiting for “Fame†to come out on network cable. It’s not worth seeing in the theater or wasting as a rental selection. ~Dana Da Designated Hata®, Nobody’s Fanâ„¢
