Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in the next installment of Batman called “The Dark Knight Rises”. Anne’s slowly but surely breaking away from the sweet and incent mold of the girl next door, and getting her hands dirty with every and anything that will showcase her multitude of talent.

I’m only hoping that this version of Catwoman will be the total opposite of whatever the hell Halle Berry was doing when she played this character back in 2004. It’s no secret that Berry systematically managed to kill off all nine lives of Catwoman at one fell swoop. If this cat burglar is going to be resurrected, then Catwoman needs a serious make over and I’m not talking about whips, chains or a latex cat suit. I want to see a dark and edgy fighting machine that’s evil with a dash of femininity. I believe that Hathaway has what it takes to make this cat burglar into a villain that the audience will be proud of. This character needs to be taken to the next level just like Heath Ledger did with the Joker in “The Dark Knight”. Woman that kick ass on screen are much more fun to watch.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is directed by Christopher Nolan who’s also directed “The Dark Knight” and “Inception”. This film stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Morgan Freeman and possibly Marion Cotillard. “The Dark Knight Rises” is scheduled to hit theaters on July 20, 2012.
