Jim Carey’s taking the whole Mary Poppins thing to the next level in “Mr. Popper’s Penguins”. He hasn’t starred in anything remotely entertaining in a while and Carey’s return to the big screen co-stars a bunch of penguins. I guess he’s trying to cash in on the Happy Feet audience but unless his character is insanely childish, I’m not really sure how he’s going to connect with the ankle bitter audience.

“Mr. Popper’s Penguins” is about a businessman whose life is turned upside down after he inherits six penguins, and transforms his apartment into a winter wonderland for his new roommates. Does this sound like something an adult with no children would be remotely interested in watching? Um, no… well not if your completely sane anyway. This movie reminds me of a masculine version of Baby Boom with Diane Keaton only they've replaced the baby with a bunch of birds.

“Mr. Popper’s Penguins” will be released to into theaters on June 17, 2011 and also stars Carla Gugino and Angela Lansbury.
